MSNBC
MSNBC is using its PromaxBDA Award winning hurricane graphics packageĀ from NBC Artworks that debuted about five years ago. It’s worth noting part of this look was also shared by The Weather Channel before its redesign.
The opening, the longest of the bunch, features a mix of realistically animated weather effects and data, creating a sense of urgency.
MSNBC has been using Studio 3A as the “Hurricane Matthew Storm Center” with multiple graphics, maps and live feeds in each of the spaces large video walls. This look would not have been possible only a few months ago, before the update to the space.
The network also has a lower bar with various data points and radar.
During some dayside hours and overnight, the Level 4 studio was also used with a similar video wall effect.
The Weather Channel
The Weather Channel’s graphics follow its main look fromĀ TrollbƤck + Company that debuted in 2013.
The network is also heavily using augmented realityĀ to explain key concepts from its “Lab” set, powered by Vizrt.
The local networks in the hurricane path have also ramped up coverage.
