ABC News‘ “World News Tonight” also used an extended open with a text-based logo treatment reading “Monster Storm: Hurricane Matthew.”

The overall look here was a bit heavy on the text, a trend that ABC News has a tendency to do.

In this one screen, for example, the date, a “Breaking News” banner, plus the Matthew logotype and full name of the broadcast with anchor David Muir’s name was shown on screen all in one cluttered graphic.

For anchor shots, ABC put a radar image its normal OTS template, though again, going a bit too heavy on the text.
