Augmented reality
The station has also become the first station in the market to introduce augmented reality for weather forecasting powered by The Weather Company’s Max Reality.
“Things just pop up of nowhere” joked meteorologist Adam Joseph during the 4 p.m. newscast.
The new look features branding elements such as a 3D “6” logo floating on a circular “stage” along with floating maps and temperature bar charts.
In addition to the standup position, WPVI can also use augmented reality graphics at the presentation pod.
Overall, the new look borrows inspiration from the old graphics and set, which was updated in 2014, and uses similar motifs in graphics and scenery to tie everything together.
The one element that didn’t change, however, is the music.
The station still uses its iconic “Move Closer to Your World” theme song.
