Graphically, the show continues its aim to be both fresh and modern while also playing tribute to its namesake.
The “Today” “sunrise” icon is split in half and colored in what Greenstein refers to as a “warm” shade of blue, giving the logo a distinct look from the orange and golds used during the first two hours of “Today.”
“The logo design gives an inviting, nice contrast to what we had on other hours but still maintained the feel of what we’re going for,” explained Greenstein.
Greenstein and his design team also opted to shift the logo away from the more elegant serif typeface used in both Kelly’s Sunday evening newsmagazine and in an initial logo concept posted to the show’s social media profiles, a move that “respected” the “Today Show” brand and logotype, while lending the more modern look that Kelly’s hour is meant to project.
“It is part of the ‘Today’ brand, so we did want some of the connective tissue there,” said Greenstein. However, he says, “the show will be different than the other hours so it was important to stand out.”
