‘The Gong Show’
In creating the lighting design for “The Gong Show,” Jon Kusner was faced with the challenge of lighting a large space that needed to accommodate a variety of acts and formats. The result was a combination of dramatic theatrical-style lighting on the curtain along with integrated accent lighting behind the “gongs” mounted on the surround. In addition, lighting played a key role in the show’s feel and mood — making it possible to go from a warm, rich feeling to a bright and airy look with just a few lighting cue changes.
