“ABC World News Tonight” also kicked of its broadcast with extended coverage of Franklin’s death that lasted nearly eight minutes into the A block.
Behind David Muir, the studio’s new curved video wall showcased images of Franklin before adding in her name and dates.
The video wall was also used to showcase larger photos of her during Muir’s voiceovers.
“World News Tonight” then played about a minute of music at the end of the broadcast.
