As a flurry for coverage on the network newscasts Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, NBC News‘ “Today” kicked off its show with an elaborate “The Latest” segment that involved a handheld camera, “walk and wander” and “video on video” techniques to cover the Paul Manafort verdict and Michael Cohen plea.
Both “Good Morning America” and “CBS This Morning” also lead with the stories.
“Today” started with anchors Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb at the anchor desk, complete with the LED column-turned-faux window that captured two random women walking by — before cutting to a handheld camera showing a blue graphic with “The Latest” shown on it against a collage of Manafort and Cohen photos.
