MSNBC used the video wall-heavy corner of Studio 3A for its primetime coverage, with the ‘star’ desk used for political coverage in the past rolled into place. The video walls featured an enhanced image of Democracy Plaza, with faux video screens and signage superimposed on select portions. Two of the most prominent video panels, which appear to be perched atop of a setback of the 30 Rock skyscraper, were used to show the key numbers needed for control of the senate and house. Other key data was fed to other areas of the video walls.

MSNBC also used its own version of the augmented reality inserted over the Rockefeller Center ice skating rink, including the black and white ‘projection alert’ image. The facade of 30 Rock was also used to showcase results and ‘too close to call’ graphics.

Augmented reality was also used to place maps and large ‘signage’ on the ice skating rink.

MSNBC also relied heavily on Steve Kornacki’s upgraded ‘big board’ — which experienced several technical issues during the course of election day, including failing altogether during ‘MTP Daily‘ earlier in the day.
