ABC, meanwhile, had “World News Tonight” anchor David Muir host the show from inside the restored mission control room in Houston Monday night, which also included preview coverage.
While the Apollo 11 rocket was launched from Florida, and the Launch Control Center is there as well, NASA’s mission control in Houston takes over once the rocket has cleared the tower.
ABC News is working with National Geographic Partners, which ABC’s parent company, Disney, acquired as part of its purchase of 21st Century Fox assets, for its coverage of the event and Muir promoted a National Geographic TV special on air Monday night.
Tuesdays’ “Good Morning America” also featured additional coverage of the event, though ABC does not appear to have dedicated branding.
