CNN created a “Texas School Shooting” stinger with musical cue that featured bold boxed typography with photography of the building tinted blue and red in the background. A similar design was used in the backgrounds of double boxes that were used for remote guest and split-anchored coverage.
Fox, meanwhile, appeared to be using its normal dark background with muted gold bursts (often used when prominent figures die) along with both “Breaking News” and “Alert” branding, including its iconic stinger.
On the network, shooting coverage was mixed in with a variety of other stories throughout the day.
