Triveni Digital, a trusted leader in ATSC 1.0 and 3.0 service delivery, data broadcasting, and quality assurance solutions, along with key partners Sinclair and Nexstar, today announced that they were awarded the prestigious 2025 NAB Show Project of the Year Award for their innovative deployment of a Broadcast Positioning System (BPS) Mesh Network.

Honored in the Media Operations category, this groundbreaking project demonstrates the efficacy of delivering highly accurate, traceable time through an ATSC 3.0 broadcast network.

“We are honored to receive the NAB Show’s very first Project of the Year Award,” said Mark Simpson, president and CEO at Triveni Digital. “BPS represents a unique opportunity for the broadcast industry to leverage existing ATSC 3.0 infrastructure to provide a vital, resilient timing service that complements GPS. This system offers unparalleled resilience through its mesh network design, ensuring reliable timing even during outages or disruptions.”

The project involved Sinclair, Cunningham Broadcasting, and Nexstar dedicating two ATSC 3.0 stations to test BPS and its associated mesh network management system. Leveraging equipment from Triveni Digital and Avateq, the deployments at WNUV, a Cunningham Broadcasting owned-and-operated station in Baltimore, and KWGN in Denver showcased the potential of BPS. Triveni Digital also established a cloud-based hub, gathering vital performance data from these strategic sites. With WHUT in Washington, D.C., contributing a crucial time source, the project validated BPS’s ability to deliver highly accurate and traceable timing information with reliability on par with GPS, as confirmed by NIST.

The NAB Show Project of the Year Award celebrates ambitious, boundary-pushing projects delivered in the prior calendar year. Judged by industry peers, winners are selected based on innovation, technical advancement, and real-world applicability. Executives from Triveni, Sinclair, Nexstar, and Avateq accepted the award during the ceremony held at the 2025 NAB Show on Tuesday, April 8.
