CNN creates tabletop map for Ukraine coverage

With all the technology and gadgets CNN has debuted over the years, frankly, we’re surprised at how low tech this solution is.
It’s a paper map with paper cutouts of battleships. Yep, almost like the board game Axis & Allies.
No holograms or virtual studios here, just a paper map with some folks pointing at it as the Steadicam bobs in and out.
This same “technology” has been used during war coverage for years, MSNBC even had a giant map on the floor for its Iraq coverage in 2003.
We’ll see if they can get Wolf Blitzer a bit more technology for his “Situation Room.”
