MSNBC.com is using a unique header that’s about twice as high as its typical branded header images for its “Year in Review” coverage. The imagery features a myriad of color washes, a subtle hint to the “spectrum” theme MSNBC.com uses elsewhere in its design.

This is a bit out of the ordinary for MSNBC.com since such headers are normally kept to the normal height with the exception of the “MSNBC TV” section.
