KVUE, the ABC affiliate serving Austin, Texas, bowed its new studio Sunday.
The upgrade includes over 130 lights and new PTZ cameras, along with the trademark Tegna “guitar-pick” desk fronting a 5×2 video wall.
Designed by Jack Morton Worldwide with fabrication from Skyline Exhibits, the set works in nods to Texas, including a star frost effect on the anchor desk and local-specific materials.
Backlit, color-changing panels wrap the space, which displays soft gradients on-air. Accent lighting helps create layers on the set while slatted wood breaks up the some of the technology.
One of the differentiating features of this set design is the interview area, which includes backlit bookcases and a glowing Texas-shaped cutout.
The set also includes a 3×3 “BAM” video wall.
