“NBC Nightly News” and “ABC World News Tonight” paid tribute to basketball legend Kobe Bryant on their Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020, with his death leading both broadcasts.
“Nightly” lead off with Kate Snow standing in front of Studio 3A’s video tower with imagery of Bryant on the myriad of other LED panels and video walls.
“World News Tonight” anchor Tom Llamas also lead with the story in front of a video wall graphic reading “Death of Legend,” a banner the network continued to use the following morning and on its special later that evening.
“CBS Weekend News” did not air an edition in the central time zone due to golf coverage.
