Fox Sports opted to utilize a virtual set, the “Basilica of Soccer,” for its UEFA Euro 2024 and Copa America 2024 coverage.
The immersive environment, located at Fox’s Studio A in Los Angeles, features a 360-degree XR studio with 5,130 sq. ft. of LED space. The set, created in collaboration with New Zealand-based Architecture van Brandenburg, integrates extended-reality (XR) multicam technology driven by Unreal Engine, Vizrt, GhostFrame and Stype.
The design allows FOX Sports to utilize both LED and AR, enabling dynamic transitions between real and virtual spaces. The set showcases team colors, matchups, and player stats, immersing audiences in the cities hosting the tournaments.
The production employs advanced technologies to create seamless transitions within the 56,840 sq. ft. virtual space.
